Supporting women through grief, motherhood, identity & emotional overwhelm
You Deserve a Space Where Your Story Is Safe
About Larissa — Counsellor, Researcher & Compassionate Guide
Hello, I’m Larissa Rossen, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) based in West Vancouver, British Columbia. I support women who are navigating the emotional and spiritual complexities of life — including anxiety, grief, motherhood transitions, and faith questions.
Across my roles as a therapist, researcher, teacher, and writer, I am committed to helping women feel grounded, understood, and connected to themselves again. I believe healing happens in the context of safe, compassionate relationships — where your full humanity is welcomed.
You deserve a space where what you feel makes sense.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and non-authoritative. I won’t tell you who to be or what to do — instead, we walk together at a pace that honours your nervous system, your story, and your lived wisdom.
How We’ll Work Together
Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed counselling that helps you reconnect with the parts of you that feel overwhelmed, scared, ashamed, or stuck.
We’ll gently explore:
what your emotions are trying to tell you
where old protective patterns started
how to access inner calm, clarity, and compassion
The goal isn’t perfection — it’s wholeness, steadiness, and deeper self-connection.

Special Interests & Expertise
I specialize in areas where emotional and relational worlds collide:
Anxiety & emotional overwhelm
Perinatal mental health
Grief & pregnancy/baby loss
Motherhood identity & transition
Faith questions, spiritual pain & deconstruction
Attachment, bonding & early developmental trauma
This work is deeply personal to me.
BE Counselling is named after my son, Brayden Elijah, who was born without his heartbeat.
His life continues to shape the compassion, steadiness, and spiritual depth I bring to every session.
Beyond the Counselling Room
In addition to my clinical practice, I am actively involved in research, writing, and facilitating workshops. My academic background in developmental psychology informs my understanding of how early stories and relationships impact our adult wellbeing — and how change and healing remain possible at every stage.
I love equipping others — whether students, clinicians, faith communities, or parents — with tools to nurture emotional resilience and authentic connection.
You don’t have to carry this alone. Support is closer than you think.

When I’m not working…
My husband describes me as friendly, social, energetic, curious, and thoughtful. We have three children and a very cheeky Cavapoo puppy. I enjoy adventures in the outdoors - hiking, mountain biking, canyoning, skiing, and stand-up paddling to name a few. I have travelled to over 50 countries so far - new places and cultures have always intrigued me. I am known in my family for being a sweet tooth - the Australian dessert called ‘pavlova’ is a personal favourite of mine.

Hello, I’m Josie
Therapy Dog (in Training)
Josie is a Therapy Dog (in Training). Her breed is a Cavapoo/Cavoodle - a cross between a King Charles Cavalier and a Poodle. Josie was born to be a therapy dog as she is hypo-allergenic, super friendly, and very insightful. She loves endless amounts of affection, especially belly rubs! Her temperament is naturally attuned, affectionate, and gentle. Josie is particularly fond of children, and makes a perfect therapist for even the most shy or anxious child. Josie attends all kinds of events and has experience with elderly homes, University events, and schools.
Benefits of therapy dogs
Research has shown therapy dogs can reduce stress and provide a sense of connection in difficult situations. Animal assisted therapy can:
teach empathy and appropriate interpersonal skills
help individuals develop social skills
be soothing and the presence of animals can more quickly build rapport between the professional and client, and
improve individual’s skills to pick up social cues imperative to human relationships. Professionals can process that information and use it to help clients see how their behaviour affects others.
